AdSense text link added in SEO Dave’s almost-spring-adsense theme
A Google AdSnse text link is added to the top of the page, right below the blog title. Look at top of this page, you shall see it. The stying and such is a copy+paste of SEO Dave’s Google Adsense unit code from page.php into header.php, in his famous adsense-spiked almost-springs wordpress theme.
From my earlier discussion with SEO Dave on Google search box replacing regular wordpress search box, I’d assume that the reason he didn’t utilize the one text link allowed by Google side by side with the three content ad units, is because historical data showed it is not worthy of the effort. To me, the text link could be more helpful and handy, sometimes, than the post or article itself, for a reader who finds your site by Google search or Yahoo! search. Plus, it is simply interesting for me to see how the CSS and theme templates work out.
So, so far, I’ve made the following changes to SEO Dave’s almost-springs-adsense theme:
- Google AdSense text link added at the top of the page
- Google search box replaced the regular wordpress search box
- Some minor changes to accommodate my own hack to make timeoftheday plugin work with wordpress 2.0 and 2.1.
